Because if the flange width of the 110mm hub is narrower. It'll be slightly weaker.
Also once you've cold set your frame you''l have a lot more options.
Nothing partically wrong with running spacers though.

Well there's probably a couple hundred that would do the job. You might want to be more specific.
Desired depth.
Desired hole count.
Desired colour.
Budget.
Braking surface?
Lightweight, or tough?32 Holes
Silver
Cheap
Preferably with brake surface as this is my first fixie.
Weight is not really a concern. Just value. I don't want crap, and I don't want expensive. -

^ breaking surfaces are on rims.
you might want to look up lfgss' famous varno - he makes lovely built up wheels for many fewer dorrah than the shops.

I know where the braking surfaces are :)
Maybe I'll ask him to build me some wheels... allthough I am considering learning it myself.

I got the open sport. Seems like it's the one to get whereever I look.
Thank you

Why? maybe I can still change the order, I think they were in backorder where I ordered them, so maybe not too late to change it.
-

nah you should be good with those. pros are a snootch lighter i think, and narrower, which technically makes them a bit zippier - but sports are probably a lot more commuter friendly.

Opensport are great buget rims. Openpro are great rims if you have more cash. If you can aford it get Open pro. They're wort it.
For your first build, a eyeleted rim, brass nipples and standard butted spokes, are what you want.

• #337
I can afford them... but do I need them?
This will be my first fixie.
I only have a 5k commute.
Streets here are ok.
My frame is crap anyway.
generally low cost build. -

New fixed hub from Hope?

-
• #341
Nice. Took them long enough?
-

I was talking to them (begging them) at the cycleshow where Lfgss had a stall...that they really should cater to the FGSS market. If the pricing and quality are good, they could be popular. I wonder if its made in the UK, or designed in the UK, but made in the Far East?
-
• #343
As it's Hope it's virtually guaranteed to be machined in the UK
-
• #344
They missed the boat IMO.
-
• #345
True. Fgss peaked a while back. Though, can the success of Hoy et all, swing it back again? Maybe? Maybe not.

I've always liked Hope stuff, though I would have preferred to see a splined mounting system like the Halo Fix-G uses.

-
• #347
That's Hope's old logo, so it's probably an old proto. I don't think they'll be bringing anything out any time soon.

Just found this comment from Hope on facebook.

Hope Technology Ltd This hub was in production in 94/95. We need to look at making them again. Possibly :-)
^ That explains the old logo then.

remember the chainline tho...it won't give you track standard 42mm
would the 3mm chainline difference be that bad?
depends how obsessed you are with chainline, sure it will run but may result in quicker wear and more noise.
has this been resolved?
Running Omniums and thinking about a new wheelset... can't decide on hubs...

Why would you choose this over spacers?
