Sugino Zen/Sugino Zen Messenger - anyone know the difference?

i've got one of each. (messenger is for sale, will post shortly on for sale thread). but why are there 2 on the market so similar, zen seems lighter. is this just cheaper? although i paid more for this??!!

Zen rings are super sweet and super expensive, bunch of the Olympic guys use them, its also njs, zen messenger is a generic ring for their cheaper cranks

You usually would pay more money for less weight.

You can see the drive train set up here from the olympics. Looks fairly standard - but who can tell?

The Zen is more expensive. From Sugino that would suggest more heat treatment or perhaps tighter machining, more refined teeth profile.

Zen is NJS certified but I can't find anything on their site about actual extra machining or aluminium quality.
