Where can I get this chain?

  • I saw this on a bike down Kingsland road, looking more industrial than your average, and was wondering if anyone knew where I could purchase a length of it?

Sorry for the kebab shop lighting situation, the night is not optimum for photos

  • German company, can't remember their name.

  • the chain is a Wipperman IG8 chain pro bmx, made for grinding, tough cookie

    here ya go....http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=11288

  • be warned it will chew your chainring up

  • free finance if you spend an extra £274 notes! there is an incentive ;)

Don't these BMX chains come up short?

  • yup.

  • if you have a very tight rear end, they will fit, just! ;)

  • be warned it will chew your chainring up

Is that the beast you had on your bike? Sugino chainsaw massacre...

Maybe you should do a group buy and get 10 of you but buy 12 chains and use the spares to lengthen the others. They'd probably do a discount for a bulk purchase. But then you'd be chain brothers. Like in friends.

Seems expensive for a chain when you'll never need the increased strength or grinding capabilities of it.

  • can somebody enlighten me as to the advantages of using one of these chains on a fixed wheel road bike?

  • in a word -Style Mr Smith.. Style

maybe you should join Sam and I on our chain brothers finance deal. 25 affordable payments at a reasonable rate and you could be hipper than in your wildest dreams.. just imagine..

  • i tried but then my head exploded when i cogitated the sheer magnitude of hipsterness i would achieve if i purchased the aforementioned chain.

  • so is the concensus that while this chain looks good it has a drastic effect on your chainring? or is that problem solvable somehow?

  • Run BMX chainrings.

  • Run BMX chainrings.

good logic, but techinically a 5 hole track ring and a 5 hole BMX ring are pretty similar. Would help if your currently running a 3/32 though.

The non spider modern BMX chainrings are not really suitable for fixy gear cos they have tight spots.

But its interesting as they go down to 22tooth or whatever, so each tooth would be encountering at least twice as much force from the chain as a 44tooth+ more commonly found on a road/track bike.

Run BMX chainrings and a BMX frame nad forks and BMX wheels and bars and stem etc...
