Looked good before, looks great now. Is it a 26er? Any pics of it built?

It's a 700c frame but I had it running 650b last year (https://www.lfgss.com/comments/15314612/)
Commuter build coming soon... 650b tan walls, silver guards and finishing kit.

Anyone posted/couriered direct to Aurum and had returned. Clever Mike is my closest LBS with a link but its still a 2hr round trip on the tube to get to them - I'd like to go through them as they could chase the BB threads and fit a headset in the process but I guess they are busy and I havn't heard back.

Did you email them? They are very responsive over email in my experience.
-
• #1756
Cheers - clever mike came back and Steve is doing a pickup from there wednesday.

Whats the go to touch up paint? Humbrol, Revell or what else should I be looking for?
Also, anywhere in London that sells them?
-
• #1758
Humbrol enamel for old frames last time I researched . Used to ba a model shop on Holloway rd (365 ?) and one in Holborn too “model zone” I thinks - you’ll get it all online tho these days obvs

Has anyone had success contacting Steve at Aurum recently?
I've tried emailing and phoning but no luck so far.
-
• #1760
Not directly, but I went through Clever Mike in Hornsey. 2 wk turn around ;-)

• #1761
Thanks, it's for a non bike related job so I don't think I'll be able to go through a bike shop, really need to talk to him directly.

Nice colour, what process?
-
• #1764
Clever Mike > Steve@Aurum. RAL 3032 Pearl Ruby Red+Gloss. Powdercoat a very impressive finish.
-
• #1765
sweet, powder coat is so beyond what it used to be
-
• #1766
Oh thats yours? I was admiring it in the shop other day, looks lovely
-
• #1767
In my experience hes kind of hard to get hold on, I just keep ringing and he'll answer eventually
-
• #1768
Yep - stoked with it - waiting on a few bits before I build it up.

Anyone got a price from Steve to sandblast a frame and fork?
-
• #1770
I'm going to Clever Mike tomorrow and I want to know the same thing, so I'll ask. Will let you know. If they know, that is.
-
• #1771
They dont, I need to get a frame done so I will ask steve to confirm the price for you.
-
• #1772
Ah, thanks. I forgot to ask anyway, of course.

What is the best way to get the raw finish look ala Mash Work and Brompton Raw? I've got an old Genesis Day One I'd like to refinish.
-
• #1774
I think a wet paint (clear lacquer) "raw" finish would achieve that sort of look but it's not particularly hard wearing. I have a raw pompino and there are hairline rust marks all over the frame now.
Raw powdercoat would be much more resistant but I don't think it would look the same as mash works etc.

The guys from stayer said they will ask them today for you, but they think F&F is £35
Got my 15 year old Airborne frame + Straggler forks sprayed by Aurum just before Xmas. RAL 5011 with a gloss clearcoat. Really pleased with the result and turnaround was about a week.
