Got my Vagabond back this week, Steve has painted it and added eyelets. Did an excellent job, would really recommend, it a very crisp finish.
Does he strip the original paint off too?
media blasted, you can see some of the sand on the BB that fell out as I carried it outside.
The quality of that powder coat is superb. Good colour as well.
Yeah, Steve really knows his stuff, he is well worth the money. I'm very pleased with the colour its RAL 5008 matte, interestingly Steve said that matte will always give you a more crips clean finnish. Apparently for gloss they do a matte cloat in the colour and then do a gloss clear coat on top.
Ahh! Like you say its the matt that makes it look so crisp. I have a frame that needs doing so will get in touch with him.
For anyone wondering about cost:
Aurum is very good value given the quality
Blimey, thats very reasonable!
looks for things to powder coat
Looks great value.
@spotter can those bosses be used for a rack or just for cages?
both or either.
Do they only do bosses or would they also be able to add a derailleur hanger?
Best to ask
Never posted this I think, Aurum service was faultless and they managed to mask all the chrome on the frame, powder coat, decals and lacquer. It's pretty flawless, and I had no idea you could even mask complex shapes like lugs for powder coating.
Do you have a before pic? That work looks stunning and I'm curious as to the degree of transformation from old to new as the finish of that looks perfect
Yeah of course, I have a specific folder on my laptop for all my bike photos. Frame as it came to me, and after a couple years use. The cromovelato was getting quite flaky, and the decals were all peeling, so needed a refresh.
Really nice job.
Now I'm thinking of the Thorn in the other room and how it could do with a transformation like that.
Bike looks great!
Still haven't sorted the rack angle and fenders though...
Lol, and yet life goes on!
I’ve wanted to put some VO chrome hammered guards on for years but have never got round to it.
It’s a problem when stuff outlasts it’s aesthetic value.
Function on, dude.
Here are a few images of a 853 frame I got Aurum to media blast and clear powerder coat
Also, my Gensis 29er and Salsa x Hulsory forks
