What's it like to live in Brixton / Brixton Borders

I hate Anerley Hill, it's steep and always busy, so can understand why you want to avoid it. Crystal Palace Park Road, from Penge, is a much more even gradient and never seems as busy.

That said, I live in Beckenham so rarely have to go over either.

We always use Oregano in tulse hill. They deliver to Stockwell borders. Lovely wood fired taste. They can take ages though

Turn out Basilico was closed for refurbishment in their Lavender Hill kitchen, so not all is lost.

Leigham Court Road all shut off by police when I passed an hour ago, looked like trouble at the leigham court hotel.

There's something going on in Brockwell Park, free food, drink and music for all... Great for the kids...

Who can recommend a good reclamation/house clearance place? We're looking for a type of kitchen table that no one seems to make any more and wanted to have a rummage around to see what we can find.

We've furnished most of our house in crap we've salvaged / bought for peanuts at carboots & fairs.

Is the BHF shop in Brixton worth a look?

Went on an old fogies tour of the catacombs in Norwood Cemetery yesterday. Amazing - 1300 coffins stacked up in various stage of decomposition in tunnels under the site of a chapel near the crematorium. One room with 60 kids coffins in - quite grim. Pretty spooky.

They have catacombs?

Are these all Victorian era coffins?

it's Norwood Fist next week - grab a cupcake, some quirkily mismatched crockery or a 6 quid hamburger and make a day of it!

Are these all Victorian era coffins?

Yep. Bodies from all over the place - if you couldn't afford a fuck-off mausoleum up top, this was the next level of status for dead folk. A lot of the wooden outer coffins have rotted, leaving the lead inners to contain the yuck. Couple of those were open though...
