  • 27" fork/ 700c wheel??

  • yep... bastard lbs told me there the right one... dame dame...

    ride brakeless to the LBS??

  • is it safe to ride?

  • No, you are forked.

  • Have you ridden fixed before (sorry if that's a stupid question and you've been doing it since you were a wee nipper) and how far is it to the LBS?

If you're going there to try and get a 27 inch wheel it would be worth phoning in advance to check if they've got one - unlikely if your LBS is the big green and yellow one.

  • I have done just under 1000 miles on a fixed...(20 miles a day for about 3 months?)... may be i will take monday off and take it to cavendish...:(

  • any idea how much they will charge me for a new fork? and labor?

  • go back to the shop and get a long-reach brake, it won't cost much..

  • problem is that the wheel is not center...

  • What does it look like on another bike? Are you sure it's in properly?

  • yeah, are you sure the wheel axle is centered?

  • You can get a dirt cheap long reach in Condor. Less than a tenner, last time I looked. Not pretty but works.

  • check the wheel axle is centered, check the wheel is dished so that the rim is over the centre of the hub, check the forks with another front wheel

  • the wheel are straight and look fine on the old frame... wheel axle is centered (just measured).. don't have another front wheel..

and..long reach brakes look silly:( may be I will find some threated one inch carbon fork at cavendish??

  • I doubt they are forks for 27" wheels. Old road bikes just had bigger clearances for things like mudguards. And they used old-style dual-pivot brakes.

  • I guess i am just picky... the wheel is only about 0.4 cm to the left and the weir thing is that the wheel is still true..... may be god is telling me to go brakless...:P

  • ooohhhhhhhh myyyyyyyy gooooood.......LBS sold you the wrong forks????? unbelievable...revolting....you should demand a refund, they should give you money for your day off, you should demand that the employee who sold it to you should be fired and we should probably start a special thread about how they are fukking the customers over???? no????

  • no no no...
my LBS sold me the wrong fork

  • broken... dont get so exited..

whatamidoing.... dont know how much you know about bikes... but is the wheel 700c? you could have a bike with 650's?

  • ah just saw your post..

  • hmm... it does take 700c tyres... running 700 x 23 at the moment.

  • just chucking it out there

  • no... feel free... I have about 3.5 cm clearance...
