I'm not putting a 70mm stem on it. Besides, my custom 853 frame will do everything I need. I'm keeping the wheels because I will probably want a flashy carbon frame again in the future.

I would put a 70mm stem on it. After all, you can buy 70mm road stems. If you can buy them, then it's legit IMHO. But the new bike sounds fun anyway.

This will probably be for sale soon for about £500 without wheels.

The top tube is just too long for me. 59cm top tube, 58 seat tube

If splitsville calls, and you want to shift the groupset (and possibly wheels?!) then you've got my number...

That's quite an interesting stat really.

I guess it's about makin sure that the bike you buy/build is fit for purpose and fills a legitimate gap I'm your riding needs.

That said if money and space were no object I'd still have my Roberts and mashed Dawes beater.

This is what I try and do. It doesnt bother me if a bike gets little use, as theoretically this means equally little maintainance cost. So I still get the same 'bang for buck'. I just like my bike to differ. Storage isnt an issue for me.

TBH, I'm not only a foot shorter than every one else in Norway. But I also have weird bike taste. So selling on wont work.
