I think that makes a lot of sense, Is it a real track bike or a round town track bike?
Also are they identical in looks too?

Round town track bike and yeah they're exactly the same bar the steerer. Thanks C.B.

I have a question about forks: I have two identical forks, one already fitted on my road bike and one soon to be fitted to my tarck bike. The ones on the road bike have a steel steer tube and the others have a carbon steer tube. Should I swap the forks when I get the 2nd pair on as the tarck will be plenty light enough and will be treated less delicately or is the difference negligible, I'm not planning on crashing either of them. Any opinions?
Swap them around. The carbon front fork will help the feel of your front end (no euph).
Just don't cut the steerer down! :P -

Will do, thanks
I'm trying out a Rando' at the moment, seems to be as good they say.

Even if you don't intend to crash obvs the likely hood is higher on the round town bike than on a road bike and you want the better performance on the road bike so in all cases it makes sense to switch them around.

^ With those tyres on and the stem dropped an inch, that is a 9.5/10. Really nice.

That's gonna look the nuts! Love the pearly white finish and the yellow details/decals with the Mavic stuff is spot on.

I just understood why you posted this, the page break confused me I guess and thanks the crimp looks fine, I am currently trying to contact Ted James (Super Ted) Oak Cycles said he has a proper crimping tool and can probably make a more even better job of the work than they can.

Thank you for your kind words.
Tyres are on -looks pretty good.
:-)
I prefered the old logos.I originally tried to have the wheels built with Open 4 cds but one of them was warped, I've since got a NOS pair which I wish I'd waited for. Oh well the open pros will stay looking good for longer.
Stem will go down a bit- it was new so I didn't want to mark it -so i've put it in long, saddle is pretty close to correct height, I'll sort it later -I'm sick at home with a cold so I can play.
It's been a ridiculously long project but so much fun.

No there 700c cheeky. And brake levers for resting the hands on the hoods but it might have a front brake to be legal.
