  • yeah, that's a bummer. But pc from armoutex (at least) just isn't thin/elegant enough for lugwork.
Dunno why i am going on about this, haven't actually got much desire to paint the frame at the mo anyways!

  • Does no-one do anodising for bike parts?

  • yup. people do, or you can do it yourself at home... tis mega easy

  • Does no-one do anodising for bike parts?

For aluminium parts, yes. For steel frames, no.

  • right. well. here we go.

  • how do i get that off then?

  • Ask Murtle he has all the tools.

  • I got ahold some hipster wheels for the Nelson. Next some skinny jeans and a move to shoreditch, that should sort me out!

Socket wrench, surely? I've got a set if you need to pop round and grab them

Nice looking frame, what you gonna do to it?

So there is someone shorter than me on this forum!

that's awesome IMO, looks really good and far too coordinated to be a hipster bike!

  • sorry should have made it clear. the chainring. socket wrenches i have.

i'm gonna fuck the frame up. probably. was thinking rechrome. but that's expensive and may not be the best thing.
it's only a bob. i might powdercoat it in the grey steel finish on armourtex's website.

  • Nice powdercoating should look nice, how about a metallic black?

Why don't you just chuck the crank/chainring and put another on?

  • money money money.

probably a competition between myself and Smallfurry me thinks

Damn!! I knew I should have pursued the fluro option and gone brakeless.

  • sorry should have made it clear. the chainring. socket wrenches i have.

    Please write in coherent sentences.

If you're wondering how to get the outer, or only, chainring off a TA Cyclotourist/Stronglight 49D/Sugino clone, just remove the bolts and the ring passes over the crank outwards.

  • yeah. i'd love to do that. but i can't get purchase on the bolts.
also. my crank puller isn't working on the cranks. it appears not to fit.
    it's one of these:

    helps?

  • this was the burls until about 4 hours ago, i bought these wheel today, but now the front one's knackered so i'll probably sell the rear one (used once) to help fund something else. forks are also cracked just under the brake drilling. I'm contemplating ti forks

get a wound up fork for it would be sweet

  • how do i get that off then?

    1. Lovely frame...
    2. Are you retarded? 14mm socket*, no?

    • Or is it 15mm, I can't remember... My spanner has both...
  • i'm a bit of a spanner today.
    crank puller now doesn't fit.

also need to take headset off.have spanners for that but no purchase.

    • Or is it 15mm, I can't remember... I am such a spanner...

    Fixed.

I Picked up NOZ* frame today. Should have it ready to go tomorrow and will post pics then.

    • - New to me Off Zed
  • yeah. i'd love to do that. but i can't get purchase on the bolts.
also. my crank puller isn't working on the cranks. it appears not to fit.

I have a slight suspicion than some TA Cyclotourist cranks had a non-standard puller thread. I recently sold my TA tools, so I can't help with that, but you can get the cranks off with a bearing puller anyway. Once you have the drive side crank off, it should be much easier to get the chain ring bolts out.

  • that's what i'm thinking. TA crank puller then... anyone? or is this a trip to LBS?

  • Bought this viscount track frame yesterday from hassanr in holloway cycles.
hopefully next step is getting it powder coated.

How much did this set you back? I didn't know Holloway Cycles sold track frames and second hand stuff.
