Uk coke is real sugar no?

Seeing as the ramen thread is all about packet noodles. I did a ramen thing.
Chashu pork belly (sous vide for 36 hours, then blowtorched to finish) and homemade narutomaki (because who doesn't like rolled up pink slime).

nice

No. Sugar tax reduced the sugar level and added sweetners.
-
• #34056
Yeah but packet noodles ;) or did you make them?
Look yummy tho.

Ah- you bellied out, the juxtaposition of that from a flaming hot bowl of water is great

No it doesn't. Coke is still just sucrose.
Coke one of few products to just take the hit / charge more for just sugar
-
• #34062
Not for regular coke, that's pretty much the last drink with just sugar.
-
• #34063
Yeah rio stood strong for a while but also went over last year or so.
I'll never recover from the loss of strawberry ribena

The global coca cola website says "high fructose corn syrup" as the only sugar in regular coke.
-
• #34065
Its sucrose in the uk
-
• #34066
What countries does that cover? The UK one only says sugar.
-
• #34067
Does in sugar tax sense.
Have found a source of sugar only coke but it is imported from Nigeria I think
-
• #34068
But sugar tax is for cheap shit that people won't pay extra for. Fentimans was always more expensive, as was san Pellegrino lemonade etc.
Premium drinks manufacturers who didn't have the faith in their own product to carry on charging premium prices are first against the wall in the new world order.

to carry on charging premium prices
Fentiman only went up in price and I bet most people don't notice it so it's more profit for them.

Someone on this forum, who is sensitive to the taste of sweetner disagrees.
-
• #34071
Can you provide a link to the ingredients list that shows UK Coca Cola has sweeteners?
-
• #34072
Not to argue, but the idea of the sugar tax was to increase taxation to packager/importer. If a producer can make more money they will.
San Pellegrino wasn't a premium drink in Italy. Or did i miss something.

Ha! Ok then.

The dude some many miles back just wanted to cook ham... If you're at a national trust property just ask for tap water

I'll go and look at a bottle.
Funny thing, looking on the internet people say it is cane, others say beet. So they can't agree.
But why would any company pay more tax in making a product and not pass that on to the consumer or even advertise that they still use sugar.
Still say the real sugar cola makes a better taste.
