Edit - Doh, new page fail

  • nearly right but I'm an architectural technician and its the four children under four which is the biggest issue...

  • In Bruges

  • I just bought for 425 all in with the 45mm

  • thanks, was that privately or shop? Not sure I want to sell it now I've 'handled' it...

  • That’s nice.

  • Number 2 oh baby!

  • That 2nd batch is great

  • That second one is amazing!

  • was from wycameras, ye i wouldn't sell if I were you, only going to go up too

  • Watching a Contax T1 at auction hoping for a good deal, £340 it ends at (after sales tax etc)
Then 2 x Nikon 35ti (untested) go for £500~ each?!

  • Wow nice. Been tempted recently to get one of the old Zeiss-Ikon folders because they often seem to go for relatively little on eBay.

  • Cheers folks !

@squidink If you can live with how basic a camera it is, they're great. I've got a Mamiya C330 that is a dust collector now just because it's easier to take the Nettar out (if fits into a jersey pocket for a start)

  • Theres a few for good prices in wyc at the moment. Do G1s manual focus? Seems like the kind of camera that will be 1k+ in a couple of years

  • Portra really is beautiful isn't it?!

  • Idle

  • nice

  • Ye I saw there is another one up for about 30 quid more now, nope not really, pretty much just auto. The lens is just so nice as is the build quality so ye I reckon they will just keep going up.

The G2 basically just has quicker auto focus and a limited manual focus and they go for around a grand now

  • Amusingly, when I’ve been in WYC the guy has always been very critical of the small contax cameras citing their inflated price vs high failure rate and difficulty to repair.

And based on other experiences I’ve had there (and similar being had by my friends) I’m not actually that keen on the shop. Fug it.

  • other experiences I’ve had there

Such as? Ive used them a couple of times, only postage but everything arrives working and in condition described. Whats your beef with them?

  • very critical of the small contax cameras citing their inflated price vs high failure rate and difficulty to repair

To be fair I don't get it either in price vs ability to turn themselves into a brick.
Fashion thing I guess innit ?

Had good service from WYC in the past, although at the moment they seem to be struggling (not surprising when they're probably the biggest film camera shop in the UK in a small field).

  • @Turkish @Ste_S

Their face to face customer service can be a bit arsey - can't think of another way to put it. I could definitely see there being a link between their massive increase in business and having less energy for interaction in the shop. Had the same down the phone as well tbh. Doesn't make me want to part with my hard earned when the person serving you seems to be visibly annoyed by your enquiry.

But then again, why would they want to spend time with a customer looking to spend a comparatively small bit of cash when they're doing so much business online? Their Google reviews seem to have a few people making similar complaints about the service too.

  • Are they like BLB circa 2010?

Steady demand, decreasing supply and margin. Hard to scale unless start selling something else.
