GF had a bad customer service experience with M&S - bought a fish ready meal that contained chicken stock. Posted the label along with letter to M&S saying that it should have warning that it contained meat, and that as a pescatarian, she was very upset at unknowingly eating meat. They wrote back with a letter that effectively said 'read the ingredients list in future & fuck off'.

If you choose a restricted diet, it's your responsibility to check food labels (which is a good habit to get into anyway).

I'm a vegetarian, and I'd complain if something was labelled as vegetarian but had meat or fish 'stuff' in. If I was interminably vexed by my own slip up, as in the case of your (mouse's) girlfriend, I'd get my own back by just boycotting M&S altogether due to their dodgy position in the Israel/Palestine wotsit.
