  • Can anyone with a nounce of mechanical sense fit a new chain on my bike for me???
I'm such a technical muppet it's not true.
    It'll be a SRAM PC-1
Tried mosquito bikes but was told they couldn't do it for me till after the 28th.
    I'm N1/N16 area.
Just having my bike sitting soulless in the hallway is quite upsetting!

    Cheers, Tom.

  • i'd come and help on the way home (N19) but going to westie drinks. tomorrow?

Don't they come with a 'power link' like all SRAMS - (checked ! I have one in my hands)

You simply click it together, no tools needed.

  • dogsballs, tomorrow would be great!
chain is too long so simply clicking it together would give me a comedy slack chain.
i don't have a chain tool to shorten it, and last time i did something like that I made a right mess of it!

  • easy peasy!

  • dogsballs, how do i contact you to give you my details?
i'm new to the site and can't find my way around to do this..................

  • send me a PM, just click my user name and a list will appear ;)

murtle got done, well b4 you! ;)

  • tomski - do you have a power link with the chain ?

    I wasn't even his first ! - he lied to me ! I feel worthless :(

  • yeah, dogs was actually before me :)

  • You all consented! I still have the videos.

No officer, "under duress" means nothing to me.

  • never stir another mans porridge

  • seriously - go bike shop, buy chain tool or multi tool with chain tool for not much money.

measure chain by wrapping around front and back with wheels forward in dropouts, see where overlap is.

break chain - making sure it leaves a thin end, not fat one for the powerlink.

    snap together with powerlink.

    ride bike.

  • yeah, it's good to learn to do it yourself, it's pretty easy once you know how.
also, if dogs is busy you're welcome to use my chain tool, i'm in nw1.
    k

  • i'm around tomorrow with chaintool.

i can help if it's too hard for dale.

  • hi there,

i hope somebody can give me advice. i want to buy a bianchi pista and i wonder what frame size i would need. i am 1,88cm tall. 57cm, 59cm or 61cm ??

    grateful for any help

    cheers

  • i think you're around 6"2, roughly the same height as me, so as a rule of thumb i'd say the 57 or 59. bikes above 60 are generally to big for everyone.

but ultimately, you'll have to try them out, which isn't me being facetious, it's the truth.

  • porto...
Also try using the search facility for previous threads/posts on bike size.

so i'm not everyone, does that mean i'm in a league of my own

way to use the search function, and post something that this thread is veugley about, not coming totally out of the blue.

  • I've never had any problems with SRAM links.

    me neither.

I can't see how they'd come apart if you run your chain at the correct tension and install it properly?

of course, now chris has got me worried.
