  • Yeah, fun times. It's a really nice city. I guess the weather helped but there's enough in the way of hills, beachfront, architecture, bars and stuff to keep people occupied. Want. Go. Back. Now!

  • and I only went there and sodding worked my socks off there for two days, saw and heard the Cathedral as had a hotel opposite- the bells, the bells, the bloody bells!!!!

Juan M Schumaker drove me back to the airport in a Taxi, musta been him the sheer speed he drove at......then Sleezy Jet cancelled the flight- oh fond memories.....

Oh yes, I can remember a very attractive Secretary though- Cooka, in Le Meridien Hotel

  • If you like sea food and tapas go to a little place called Cal pep its only small. Eat at the bar rather than the restaurant, noisy, fun and superb food YUM :)

    Cal Pep fucking rules!
best meal i have ever had.
we had to wait ages for a seat though.

  • ha!... good man.
there are some good bars round there.

  • wow. i just found my friend who lives in Barcelona walking down the street outside her flat.
    (on googlemaps streetview)

yes same here but it was worth the wait, my spanish is very very bad and the chefs behind the bar had a lot of fun trying to get me to pronounce the dishes much to there and my mirth :)

  • i just said gimme' whats good.
and they just kept piling plate upon plate of stuff in front of us.... i still have no idea what half of it was!
    good wine too.

  • Anyone know if you can get bikes boxed at Barcelona airport?

  • Does everyone still have mullets over there?

  • Does everyone still have mullets over there?

    Yes, yes they do...

  • can anyone recommend some areas of barcelona to stay for a family with two young kids?, i'm hoping to buy tickets today but i've never been and we need a fairly central location (close to airport and city center). thanks

  • when i went with the missis i we stayed in the Born area, nice and central, there were a few bars close to out apartment but im sure there are quiet spots for family oriented stay. i enjoyed staying there, most places walkable, and if i remember rightly there is a big bus staition close by if you want to go further afield

  • thanks, we're also thinking of taking a trip to the dali museum in figueres. have you been there, any recommendations on the town (figueres) itself?

  • No not been there but looked at doing it, trains out of Barca are generally good, think its quite a train ride about 2hrs, i cant remember how regular the times were though.

  • ok thanks

  • If you're with 2 kids, it may be advisable to stay away from the Raval/ramblas area come night time/evening, it just becomes full of prostitutes. I think there are some excellent apartments around the old olympic village, which is only a short metro trip away and a nice part of town.

I've been to Barcelona 5 times, and it is one of my favourite cities, I've never not had a great time!

  • Oh and trains are really good from Barcelona although I admit I havent been to Figueres...

  • thanks for the advice tenderloin

  • There's an amazing sandwich place called Shhh....No se lo digas a nadie (Shhh...don't tell anyone) in Grácia. But don't say I told you.

  • cool, thanks for that.

i'm going to take in as much as possible but with 2 kids in tow... meh

yes the olympic village or above the diagonal in Gracia, it's an area with lots of gridded streets and squares and more of a community than a tourist trap, not far from town and just a short hop on a bus or tube (or a walk if you are not far from the diagonal)

  • cool, thanks for that.

Then go to Parc de la Ciutadella and look for terrapins, in a rowing boat!
