  • Those of you interested in the history of the game, you have to watch this Barry Sanders video. I was fortunate enough to watch him pretty much every Sunday. He was the best running back in an era with Thurman Thomas and Emmitt Smith, and for my money the best RB in the history of the game.

Biggest waste of talent ever and they key reason for the reputation of the Lions as a terrible organisation. In another team, he would have had 3-4 rings.

Bonus points if you can spot the current 49er GM trying and failing to tackle him.

Note: He and Thurman Thomas were teammates at Oklahoma State

  • loved Barry, was always wanting the Lions to put players around him good enough to get him deep into the playoffs, or a coach with a scheme that would have got him there. So many running backs emulate him, the spins, the stutter steps, but he was always so strong and powerful, whilst also being graceful and elusive, some of his highlights are jaw dropping.

  • Watson review underway today. what do we think?

Personally I'd like to see at a season if not more. If Ridley got a year for betting, this has to be more surely? Depressing the comments do people who think he shouldn't get any ban.

  • Fingers crossed for indefinite.

  • Hope he never plays another snap

  • Same. He's been an albatross for the Texans and we were glad to see the back of him. The Browns gambled and they may lose terribly. Watson is also responsible for ending the Marr Ryan era in Atlanta too. He's screwed over a lot of teams.

I think he'll get a 2 year ban. I think that, in part, the 2nd year will be in to penalise Watson and Browns for suspension favourable contract structure for year 1.

The recent 2 year suspension for Trevor Bauer in MLB for sexual misconduct is an important factor and that will the yardstick that will be used to measure any punishment that the NFL delivers.

  • Season Tickets for the Spurs stadium went on sale this morning, I got a couple of the cheap seats with no hassle and there seemed to be a good amount available.

    #WHODAT

  • Mayfield to the Panthers. They now own the #1 and #3 pick from the 2018 draft - both QBs (Darnold)

  • Browns risking it all on Watson being allowed to play.

Time to start the fantasy prep

  • Browns may be in big trouble for a year or two. I think their window is very narrow and they completely fucked it with the trade. Andrew Barry may only have 2 years to make this work and Stefanski may throw in the towel / get fired before then.

I am not sure Mayfield will start for the first 3 weeks anyway. He may be better riding the bench this year anyway as I don't think the Carolina coaching staff will survive this season. Better to be a backup than getting your reputation shredded by a weak O-line and a bad coaching staff.

  • Also - if the Browns are stuck with Brissett all season, it only tanks their record and improves the 1st round pick they send us. If it's really bad for Cleveland, we could have 2 of the top 5 picks or top 10 picks in a QB heavy draft.

  • QB heavy but Mills has shown he can maybe the future so… really looking at trading those. I can’t see the browns getting above 3 wins this year.

Also still believe Baker is a good QB and truly believe he would be amazing in a Steelers team ironically.

He may well be, and if he is then the higher draft picks become more valuable to QB needy teams. Win / win

Weirdly, I was thinking of the Trubisky situation with Buffalo when I wrote this

I agree - he would be amazing on the Steelers or any other team with a strong run first attack, like say, the Ravens. This may happen if Mayfield rides the bench this year and Jackson goes to Miami next season to replace Tua.

  • We're going to both of the Spurs games too - I let my season ticket lapse because I couldn't really afford it last year, but a couple of our group kept theirs going so I've been able to re-add myself to their group and we've upgraded seats so we're now about 6 rows from the field.
Don't think I've got a personal or divisional desire to see any of the teams this year win or lose, but it'll be cool to see the Packers, and I've got to say I like the whole drinking and shouting aesthetic of the Vikings.

  • Finally! I don't think Mayfield will be the saviour, but he got done over by the Browns, and after a bad 2021 he was due to good 2022 since that's how his career has gone thus far.

  • The memes that are swirling around this are really good

  • After all the build up, Watson out for 6 games....

Be interesting to see if Rog pushes it to the year he wanted.

  • Shit isn't it. Saw someone characterise it as 1 game per 5 complainants which is bleak.

  • NFL has 3 days to appeal, not sure how it would look if they (Goodell) pushed for a longer suspension, with the players association signing off on it.
Feel like 10 games to a whole season would have been appropriate, even slightly lenient. And though I don't want to descend into whataboutery (so saying I descend into whataboutery), but Calvin Ridley got a year for gambling, it kind of shows the NFL's priorities, it's the same length of ban as Ben Roethlisberger got for his sexual assualt allegations and that was a decade ago...

  • I'm in tears....shame he doesn't do the Texans. I would totally throw money at him if he did.
