• BB386EVO - what fucking bottom bracket do I need to use with Shimano cranks?

I don't want to use an adapter inside the BB. When I had a bb30, I used the praxis thing.

(I've got my eyes on a 105 groupset going on the frame I have)

  • Anyone got any experience with the screw together "pressfit" BBs? Need to replace a BB86 and it's appealing in that I wouldn't need to get my hammer out to extract the BB when it needs changing next time but that's only if it's not a stupid idea when in actual use

  • How can I replace mine free hub Shimano FH-RM70 to do it fixed? 32 holes, need delivery to Germany, pls, have you any ideas? Budget close to 30€

  • Removing the outer of a triple (forum favourite Shimano 6603) to make a sub-compact. If I am going without a bash/ chain guard to replace it, I assume I need new chainring bolts? Stridsland specials?

  • I've used the Token 7 in 1 BB and switched between bb386, bb30 and GXP cranks no problem. I replaced the bearings once, and wasnt too difficult. I do have a bearing extractor tool though, that is a little bit more sophisticated than a hammer, but not much!

  • very tight clearance on a 7vrn frame with a 111mm Campag Record crankset and BB.
115mm ISO seem to be available... is 2mm a side enough!? looks super close and some small marks from the previous owner on the chainstays.
But going over 117 seems a lot on a track bike!

  • Hi, I’ve bought a rockhopper from the forum few months ago but need to fit a BB and a I wanted to install a single chainring. Originally had a triple. I’ve measure the length of the bb and it seems to be 70mm. I’ve used a laser to check where the new chainring would be in the middle of the cassette, and that is 10mm from the BB. Not sure what thread the BB is? I assume English? How can you tell? I’ve got no experience with BB and would like to know where to start. Also, which chainring would be best to ensure chain doesn’t pop out? Thanks in advance!

  • Hey,

Looking for options in Europe for a square taper bottom bracket, with BSC threads and 68mm shell, an ISO square staper and width around 120-122mm.

So far, I seem to find only this option from Specialites TA which seems nice, but rather spendy. Would anyone have a different option in mind?
