The Pembree seat clamp is pretty good, though I personally prefer the Wolftooth, which stops my post slipping under my current 115kg, while not binding the dropper. Both available in blue
Hope clamps have never been that good, in my experience

Cheers, part of what I was asking was because I was sure I remembered a few people on here saying Hope clamps were pretty bad. I'll see if I can find a wolftooth one.
Also, 30.9 seatpost should be a 34.9/35mm clamp, right? I don't own any callipers to measure it and finding that info out based on frameset seems to be impossible.

Does it not state the measurement anywhere on your Hope clamp?
-

You know what, I hadn't checked that haha.

You could probably get an accurate enough measurement with a ruler, if you take the seatpost out
Also, if you haven't already, clean and carbon paste the post

You were quite right, it was written down the side of the clamp hahahaaaa. Done all of that as standard. I think it's probably just a combination of 8nm being too tight for the dropper to work properly and anything less meaning the clamp doesn't bind properly. I've ordered a Wolf Tooth one so we'll see how that goes. Cheers!

Excellent. I've only had to tighten mine to 6nm ( which is the max anyway )
Some droppers just seem to be more sensitive than others

Yeah, I had a Fox Transfer that I had to get rid of because it was too long and that seemed to work beautifully no matter how tight the clamp was. The Kore one I'm using now can be a little finicky.

I had drama with my One-Up in the Stanton and ended up swapping to a skinnier 27.2 seatpost, using a Wolftooth clamp and a BBB "extra" clamp to avoid slipping but allowing the seatpost to drop. Moved the OneUp to the Scott where it's fine.

Why can things never be simple? hahaa

Tell me about it!
I'm continually moaning about the new tech and how much simpler everything was in the old days.

The dropper not working if clamp is torqued up could be an ill fitting seattube issue rather than anything to do with the clamp.
That said, I also don't really rate Hope seat clamps. The QR ones are shit due to the open cam and I've had two develop cracks. I'll admist that in those instances, torque specs may not neccisarily have been adhered to but they are the only clamps I've ever broken though.

ill fitting seattube issue
If I had more time I'd probably have seen if I could get the seat tube 'reamed'? to make sure it was perfect on spec. and try again. Going for the skinnier post and moving the OneUp to the Scott (which needed a different length post anyway) seemed the quicker/easier option.

can help me plan a little mtb excursion? I haven't been to glentress so want to go there, and last night looked at Hamsterly which sparked my imagnation, but not sure about additional locations if I only have 4 or 5 days for the whole trip: maybe somewhere more local in addition?

Anyone else had troubles with Hope seatpost clamps/collars? I've got a lovely ano blue one to match my blue sid but it slips constantly. I also find that if you torque it up to spec my dropper doesn't work.
Anyone got a recommendation for something that does work well with a dropper?
