Long, low, slack Apollo Carreras.

Not much offset on those forks -

The longer and lower that frames get the more they need leaning to turn, and it isn't always the best. When I went to Swinley I had trouble getting my Crush down the particularly winding trails. Planet X are doing a 62ยบ hard tail these days, which is pretty raked out.
One of the other things is that the slacker head angles get the more prone they are to wandering, and getting right over the bars when doing steep climbs isn't particularly comfortable. Not that this is an issue in enduro/DH.

There's going to be natural limits according to rider height, ability, terrain and trail type. If you consider that LLS should operate in a spectrum then the bikes generally perform better than steeper, higher, shorter bikes of just a few years ago.
I'm not advocating everyone rides the most extreme versions of this trend in geometry. Just that having a spectrum to choose your ideal geometry within that range, especially in terms of custom builds, is a boon today. -

a spectrum
The industry trying to sell us a bike for every slight variation in riding. The industry will probably hit a wall in a few years in terms of the extremes of geometry and then the new thing will be LLS XC bikes, and shorter offset/adjustable forks.

The bike industry is always trying to sell you new stuff, much like any other consumerist enterprise.
There's many fads that were fads for their own sake. But LLS isn't. I just think that modern bike geometry is better than ever and LLS really works.
There are already LLS XC bieks as well.

Adjustable wheels are the next big ( and small ) thing

• #15058
Also adjustable length telescopic bars. :-)

Would you rather every frame had 71/73 angles like they did in the 90s? (With a 130mm stem to match?)
Yeah, there are more niches now, but at least you have a bit of choice as to which one you best fit into. -
• #15060
Maybe a modern version of the Bionicon Edison?
-
• #15061
Sounds like the Supersix I rode through Epping.

• #15062
Needs Fox Live Valve, AXS, 27 flip chips, and a 29er fork. And only then will I consider it complicated enough.
-
• #15063
like a horizontal dropper post?
-
• #15064
That was a pretty cool concept actually. No idea what it was like to ride.
-
• #15065
Exactamundo.
-
• #15066
Speaking of LLS, this huge Nicolai is a 29er!

-
• #15067
Does that belong to Shaq?
-
• #15068
It has a 400mm length dropper.
-
• #15069
It's certainly custom, as while the XXL G13 has 550mm reach, it 'only' has a 520mm seat tube, which that ^ definitely does not

-
• #15070
Just think of the frame bag you could get in that
-
• #15071
No idea why I have that saved in my BikeCad library...

I think it was @Nahguavkire who was into enduro bikepacking?

Vision of the future? Will you have a new steed for the next badger ride?
Interesting that canyon only go up to XL in their MTB frames but do XXXXXXXL in their road frames.

Vision of the future?
Far future maybe, if I ever live near any hills
Will you have a new steed for the next badger ride?
Possibly
Interesting that canyon only go up to XL in their MTB frames but do XXXXXXXL in their road frames
I've always found it a bit easier to get big road frames than mtb. Even with the longer reach on new bikes, the steeper seat angle would give me a cramped seated position, and most LLS bikes have limited stack*, which might help front wheel grip, but isn't very confidence inspiring when riding down steep stuff
*With the exception of Nicolai, and possibly Pole

Into is an exaggeration. Foolishly thought it sounded like a good idea and it wasn't. Spent a long weekend being assaulted by midges in the Scottish Highlands before we all conceded and booked a hotel room for a good night's sleep. Never again. Next trip will be somewhere nice like Madeira in a villa with a pool.
