Euston Road
Who, voluntarily, goes that far East?
-
• #27028
Eurostar is there. It's a key part of my escape plan

I could've actually done last Thursday as I was on the biek on Thursday after work which took me to Hammersmith Bridge via Richmond Park.
Sadly I'm not in London for the Jubilee

I might make it that way after a work colleague's birthday drinks in Hammersmith - what sort of time?
I am keen to commiserate with fellow recent bike theft victim @NorthLondonLight and get any opinions on a BB issue with the frame that will replace my stolen bike - a Focus Izalco kindly given me by @Jukedy (who is also in W4 - I owe you a pint if you fancy coming out!) -
• #27034
I'm afraid you won't be seeing me as someplace have arranged a rude in Kent do I'm staying there until Friday evening. Some other time will have to do.
Thanks for sympathy about stolen bike.
-
• #27035
a rude
In my limited experience you would have to be pretty offensive to register as 'rude' in Kent.
-
• #27036
6 or 6:30?
-
• #27037
That'll work.
Now we just need a venue. -
• #27038
I was assuming that the Lamb was the regular, but if you aren't committed to a particular location, perhaps somewhere in Shepherds Bush?
-
• #27039
The Lamb is indeed in the thread title ...
However we have a bid for the Black Lyon.
I'll be there between 6 and 6.30. -

Ruislip has never had good pubs.
Just a hill and a valley away, (through Harefield), we have the River Colne.
@hamrack and myself have enjoyed a pint at The Coy Carp, a riverside eatery with an extensive beer garden.
@NorthLondonLight also invited me to join a CLCTC ride that lunched there. -
• #27044
Not Ruislip but the view from the Apple Orchard(?) pub near Harefield? is quite nice. I've been to Coy Carp on a canal ride before.
-
• #27045
Yeah the view from the top of the hill from The Old Orchard(?), was more impressive before HS2 built its concrete fabrication factory on the far side of the Colne Valley.

Oh, yeah, I probably haven't been there for years. I have had to detour a few audaxes around their work areas in the last few years though. Don't we love progress?
-
• #27047
That sounds like a good idea but as @mespilus says Ruislip is a desert. It's much further on but worth making the effort to ride to the The Land of Liberty, Peace and Plenty in Heronsgate. Unfortunately its distinctly the other side of Ruislip but @mespilus and myself have often toyed with the idea of having a West's there!!

I meant to add that Mrs NLL refused my company this week so I'm in Acton and available for a drink this Thursday.
-
• #27049
I'm tempted to get a Metropolitan fast train (bikes allowed after 7pm, last fast train is 7:30) to Chorleywood (or similar), drop down to The Land of Liberty, and from there to the Coy Carp and/or Old Orchard, then crack on homeward (probably bailing out somewhere along the Metropolitan/Central line).
Would anyone be up for this plan (or some variation thereof) on Wednesday evening?
Thursday would probably be better for normal drinks in Acton (as @NorthLondonLight suggests) and wouldn't suit this plan anyways because of the strikes. -

Tramp beers on wormwood scrubs anyone?
No, The North. You know? That piece of land just above Euston Road, before you fall into the sea.
