  • Someone going down long lane with a wheel strapped to their back, I would have attempted to acknowledge but was struggling to see with snow in my eyes. Hello!!!

  • ^xander on way to SE

  • ^ Josh destroying LMNH

  • ^ Max destroying LFGSS...

  • ^ I'll destroy you in a minute...

  • Someone going down long lane with a wheel strapped to their back, I would have attempted to acknowledge but was struggling to see with snow in my eyes. Hello!!!

I saw you to but was also in the same situation of having every single snowflake finding its way into
my eyes! Not the best ride i've ever done I must say. Good day to you too!

later on unlocking outside peckhamplex a guy on a brakeless bike with a coaster brake......

  • A copper at a set of lights on mile end road. Thought he was stopping RLJers, but nope, stopping cars who hadn't removed ice from their windows so couldnt see properly. Good work.

I know Londoners aren't used to snow but I'm amazed how many of them can't work out that it's important to clean the snow off the roof of their car, not just the windscreen, before setting out. Surely it doesn't require a genius to foresee what will happen if you have to break suddenly with a roof covered in several inches of snow?

  • Pilky! Nice rollin' north with ya, dude... That Holdsworth is lovely, perfect winter bike...

  • spotted some dude with a massive ginger 'tache this morning on Queens road. Not what he was riding but ti had one gear...and I've seen 'im before...

  • This morning a roadie nearly clipping me by undertaking to jump a red.

  • Loads and loads of people with nolights and a young lady with nolights and nogloves #dadmode

  • Velo libre this morning - nice riding with you.... at this rate I might make it a week of daily chaperones from Brixton.

  • Someone riding fixed with a white deep v up front and a white spok at the rear i let go right into the tunnel by on yer bike on Tooley St. I shouted DAS and fully expected one given your choice of wheels but i understand if you didn't want to snap your spok...ahem...

  • Could have been me on a black fixed touche.

Enjoyed the ride in this morning. Less looking forward to putting on wet clothes and re-venturing out in a bit.

Could well have been you. I also saw a black Touche on the way home, but I couldn't get through the traffice to look (I had a wide load strapped to my saddlebag).

I rode to Streatham. The motor traffic up there was insane. Not going anywhere, and hoping that blasting a horn will make a difference. News just in: It doesn't.

Then I built a new rear wheel with help from a friend, before setting off home along icy roads late last night.

Today, I will not be spotted on fixed, as I'm on my tourer. The snow was pretty bad back at home, but there's nowt here in Central London.

  • yup that's me, were you the guy I was trackstanding next to at the balham or tooting lights on Thursday evening? I've got to say I think my trackstanding's pretty ropey! But thanks for the beard compliment...

Also spotted gaz545, he's easy to spot as he appears to have decorated the back of his bike with Christmas lights!

Oh and i miss my semiregular spots of clefty, hope you're enjoying west London!

Hi - no, that was me trackstanding next to you in Balham (OTP Kona paddywagon with yellow tape drops and rims). Apologies for the flouro nodder jacket, but it was so cold, I donned the warmest clothes I could. Your keep right sign is excellent.

Think I managed to stiffle a snigger later at Tooting Bec when you nearly came off!

  • Bloke on black surly steamroller who said "nice bike" to me on Southhampton Holborn.
    Cheers mate... Yours too ;-)

  • Someone rolling over Tower Bridge on a polo build around midday. Mallet at the ready, you could see the determination in his eyes - or, it was just the cold wind making him squint.

  • My raw frame changing colour rapidly. Need to get this thing painted before another snowday.

  • crazier than a box of frogs hybrid flouro nodder wearing shorts and sports-guy black sunglasses in hernia hill. it was 7 at night.

  • i have seen loads of loonies out on bikes in shorts with bare skin showing all over the place? why??? it is not big or clever. it is just dumb.

  • Wheras I was in legwarmers, covered in merino longjohns, followed by full jeans. On the feet; merino followed by sealskin followed by wooly socks.

    FUCK YEAH COMFORT.

My polobike is a sit-and-beg nightmare if you're in a rush, but for this kinda weather it's fucking aces.

  • +1 cg

    i was in
    merino socks
    sealskin socks
    sidi diablos (goretex)
    neoprene overshoes
    knee warmers
    normal cycling shorts
    3/4 shorts over the top
icebreaker merino wool long sleeve base layer
    normal jersey over the top
    rapha stowaway
    big gloves
    buff
    fleece headband

the only bit of skin showing was nose and cheeks. if i cover them my glasses steam up.

i was really comfortable... there is no such thing as bad weather - just the wrong clothes.

  • Fuck Joe, that's shitload, how far do you live? 3 miles?
