  • I like my Crumpler's three largish pockets at the front of the bag.. I would like more, I would lose the one in the middle which is velcro-closed (the other two are just 'open' and never seem to lose anything - they're full bag depth) and I've never used the big zip pocket right at the front (outside the main bag area, if you know what I mean?). No pen holders. I didn't know you had removable pockets.. hmm

  • Sounds like a good idea to me - I prefer simplicity. I wonder whther you need that many pockets to be honest. My bag at the moment has a full width, velcro closing pocket on the inside and two full depth, waterproof bellows pockets on the front, one with a small inside pocket and pen holders. I find that this allows me to split stuff up so it's easy to find but keeps the complexity of the bag to a minimum and helps prevent random crap accumulating.

  • Three medium pockets, and maybe one zippered. I find I rarely use the outer pockets, cept for my mapbook.

  • too many pockets is not good, KISS principle. Keep It Simple Stupid!

  • More pockets is good. It allows people with OCD to sleep safetly in the knowledge that their bag is tidy even if their mind is not.

  • For the longer journeys would a pocket for one of these be useful?

    Just an idea!

Yes I am untidy but everything has it's place in the piles and pockets,

Oh the number of arguments I have had over the cutlery droor..

    +1

  • there is a few places you could easily fit that in one of scott's bags as it is.

  • Have you got any ideas about how to make that adjustable flap I asked you for? In case I want to keep some records (or laptops or whatever) in there nice and secure. I guess it would have to be attatched on only one side and straps on the opposite side, with loops on the other bag seam to tension through. It could even be not attatched and have straps on two sides. Others may like the idea, I dunno.

Oh nice I read that post about left/right shoulder, I'd been wondering about that. I'll be wanting left but I'll tell you again nearer my turn.

    The post from wednesday made me cry.I can't imagine how hard this must be for you, my deepest sympathy to you, scott. A 'Home Truth', so thanks for that. :{

  • Here's a run down of my bags and thier pockets:
Timbuk2 Loads of pockets some small a few bigger ones, the problem with the small ones is if they don't fit your phone mp3 player etc they're pretty useless but you can unstich bits to make them bigger.
Crumpler: 3 reasonable sized pockets middle one velcroed, probably my favourite inner pocketed bag
Pac: one massive pocket held by velcro thats ripped off, alright but a bit too big and very annoying about the velcro as its sewn on badly

None have pen pockets on the inside which would be really handy, the timbuc2 has them on the front under the flap which is good but not ideal as you can pull them out when opening the flap in a hurry.

  • my current (old style timbuk2) bag has a pocket bit hanging down on the inside. it's attached, which is kinda nice, but now that it's old it's been getting in the way and has got ripped. plus i used to lose things behind it occasionally. so if you're going to do it, do fix it top and bottom. it has two big pockets and one small one, plus 2 pen slots. i find that i've used all of them equally, and would be happy with more pockets rather than less.

the one thing i really like about the current design you have, tho, is the velcro bit and the fact that a computer bag can be added in, and then the pockets stuck back on again! so, as long as there's a similar functionality (ability for laptop bag and pockets) i'm sure whatever you do will be good!

  • cool scott good work on the upgrades

can we have two ipod/phone holders, one for the ipod, and one for the phone, not all of us can afford the iPhone, geez some people ;)

  • looking forward to seeing the pics

  • i'm looking forward to seeing the bag
