£1200 for a set.. medium/heavy weight.. going tubs or clincher? What for (please don't say commuting!)? How heavy are you? (20/24 spoke count is v. low)..

They've been advertised at £999 in Cycling Weekly for weeks now. I'd go for the clincher. Fast rides on smooth roads. I'm 12.5 stone/80kgs. I've run front 20 spoke wheels/24 spoke rear for years without a problem.

I don't keep up with prices.. that's google's job. Clincher for sure unless you have a support vehicle behind you or you're TTing only.
80kg on those will probably be fine. I'm bigger and notice unpleasant flex on my radial 24H front (the rims on the Cosmos are shallower). I likes me 32s!
Still a rather expensive proposition for a bit more speed over 30kph. Where are these smooth roads? I've not seen any in/near London.. -

Yeah, but I live in Chester... ;-)

And another thing, if I get them on the scheme they end up half price virtually - wouldn't bother otherwise...
-
• #13
still
quitevery pricey. . . is it worth it? -
• #14
Probably not.... but if I found out that they didn't justify the outlay I could sell them for less than list but more than I would end up paying.
-
• #15
Yeah, forgot the cycle scheme discount thing.. fsck i wish my company would pull their finger out and arrange similar!!!
I reckon if you could get over what you pay for them used then why not.. still don't see how £1000 wheelset is considered commuting equipment! :)Chester (had to google) so that smiley up there was a Chesire Grin? Lucky bugger :)
Bring 'em down here and I'll road test them for you.. hope they have a good warranty.. 1 month I give them for London and the Chillies :) -

Think I might pass up on the London road test offer - I'm sure they're not potholing-friendly
-
• #17
Aww go on.. I won't hurt 'em honest!
MWUAHAHAHAHAA!!
