  • literal lol for like, 5 mins

  • When are you going to do the challenge on your Boardman like you said you would?

When I can get into the size XS skinsuit I just bought off eBay, and when my FTP is 750 watts.

  • The New Oxford Street ride?

Now now, I think that's taking something away from the adventure that is the Oxford Street ride.

At least with the right support crew the New Oxford Street ride is doable, but the whole length of Oxford Street?

    Fucking mentalist.

  • Some people have a desire to go further, to push to new heights, to take the human body into undiscovered realms of endurance..

  • Tottenham Court Road??

    Fucking hell hippy.

  • i am going to do it on my bmx

  • anyone feel like a few laps tomorrow? 12.30?

and possibly back to mine for post ride coffee as opposed to the cafe ditch water?

  • Suppose to fly out to Copenhagen at 6:34 from Gatwick, very tempted to do a quick morning ride...

  • The cold, oxygen rich air will be good on the 'climbs' Ed, but negatively impact the aerodynamics.

  • ;-)

  • does the cold actually make much difference to the aero?

  • yes, air density changes

  • Suppose to fly out to Copenhagen at 6:34 from Gatwick, very tempted to do a quick morning ride...

Wouldn't that need to be about 3am?

  • Sorry, pm.

  • does the cold actually make much difference to the aero?

Hour record attempts were normally done at altitude to reduce drag.

Also, my car has noticably more power in cold weather due to air density being higher.

  • The other half is around today, and it's a choice of an arduous slog and mental exhaustion or Richmond Park laps.

    Richmond lost

  • odd time of year to be going full gas round the park. you will be faster in warmer weather.

can cut through warm air faster <<<< possible viable claim.

  • If you are averaging over 35 mph a 15 celsius drop in temp might cost you 33 seconds over three laps*. But as you never will be it's probably half of fuck all.

*based on 5 degree change in a velodrome temp being worth 1.4 seconds in a 4km pursuit

  • That's based on very low drag though, might be more of an effect with Scoble style "shooperman" position?

  • it was interesting going to the Obree talk a couple of months ago. they also talked about the design of the pringle and how high temperature and humidity cut down the aerodynamic drag, and how tracks can be built to go fast if the climate is controlled properly.

  • Shall we approach the queen about building a biosphere over RP to ensure you sad fucks have optimal climatic conditions for your record attempts?

  • damn right, or just have a ton of lfgss people meet up and spout hot air would probably do the job

  • its damper when colder, and your tyres are harder. more grip in the warm = faster corners. I had a nasty sliding crash there once, corner of sawyers hill/ queens road. lost most of the skin off one leg.
