Yeah, it exists. I've got some in a glass jar, next to the enticingly-named 'soya chunks'.
Mince is best left as a term for effeminate walking.

true! bmmf are you of the vegetarian variety?
-

ohhh i have secret meat:)

Yes. Ovo-lacto. Not as militant as I used to be (well, maybe as militant, but less ANGRY). Same goes for all my political/cultural proclivities.
We're a full-on veggie family, at least till my son demands to try meat, and then he's welcome to fuck off and let the non-veggie grandparents cook it for him.
Eat me (Bailey).

yeah my family was/is a full-on veggie family....you cant stop your children from trying meat like my mum couldnt stop my dad from forcing it on us as kids(c*nt)

vegan household at the moment, no kids.. Not sure how it would work trying to raise kids as vegans, kids parties and stuff. How old's your son BMMF? Does he go to parties yet? hehe..

it was always an issue for my mum having to deal with that kind of thing.....she said to me the other day that some times it was imposible to control everything i eat....especialy at school

My son's 10 months, but he's quite the socialite. He can do what he wants at other people's parties, but if his little chums come round our place expecting meat, I'll point them in the direction of Smithfield round the corner.
I was raised in a strictly-meat family - my mum refused to cook 'separate meals' for me, despite doing it for herself with every fucking diet fad that came along in the 80s - and she monopolized the kitchen. My wife was raised by veggie parents, wasn't interested in meat till her rebellious phase, did booze and kebabs for a couple of years, then returned to planet tofu.
If Tynan DOES get into meat when he's older, I'd hope that it's organically farmed at least, and locally produced. At least it looks like there's a culture shift where kids are more likely to learn about where their food comes from.
On the other hand, he may choose to live on energy gels, recovery shakes, testosterone injections, and illicit blood transfusions.

I'm going to try and go veg when I move to uni. I think it's unfair to expect my meat-eating family to cook different meals, and buy different food.
I did try it briefly when everyone went away on holiday, but I didn't really replace any protein so I felt quite awful...
