Cottered cranks, bastard things! I've read Sheldon's piece on the pipe and hammer approach to get the pins out. Anyone tried this or got another idea??
the pins are usually soft metal, so hacksaw the end off (so it's flat) and then drill it.
i ground off and metal hanging over forming a lip then smacked them through with a hammer in ONE hit, i sometimes but a piece of wood in the way, maybe try a rubber mallet
thanks guys. i'll try the hammer then get the drill out.
now considering whether to reinstall them or just buy a cheap double. decisions...
