do parents really feed their children that crap??

  • Mr Smith have you not read this?

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/south_yorkshire/5349392.stm

It is important to get your five a day.

    Five meals of fast food.

  • hardly surprising is it.

  • It's a cultural thing. UK has never had a culture of food and cooking, eating meals with family. Not big agricultural industry, either.

  • You would be a shit parent if you didnt take your kids out with their friends and get them some pizza and whatever crap they wanted on their birthday tho.

  • lpg It's a cultural thing. UK has never had a culture of food and cooking, eating meals with family. Not big agricultural industry, either.

    Never?

    Really?

In your lifetime and experience perhaps... but never?

  • your damn right i KNOW that for a fact, my son's b/day sunday, guess where he wants me to take his bunch of mates????

  • lpg Not big agricultural industry, either.

Not now but it did until farly reciently. (As big a many other eu counties). But yeah we don't place a high value on food here. Hence crap.

  • 31trum your damn right i KNOW that for a fact, my son's b/day sunday, guess where he wants me to take his bunch of mates????

herne hill for the veteran meet, right?

  • haha

    er....sunday roast???

  • MACCY D'S!

I'm sorry but national food in the UK is pretty awful, that is why when all the immigrants came over in the 50's/60's, they brought their food customs with them, and that's also why there is now a Kebab shop/ Southern fried chicken shop on every high street. You won't find that in Europe, anywhere.

Isn't the national dish chicken tikka masala? Hmmm.

  • lpg Southern fried chicken shop on every high street.

However shit English food might or might not be, there is no way that fried chicken could be a better replacement.

  • It is hard to find someone who can cook good british food most peopke have prob never had it. I agree 99% of british food avalible to most people is terrible. Like i said as a contry we no longer place a high value on food.

Hence lazy people and lotts of fried chicken.

Plenty of kebab shops in Germany, and a snitzel is basically just fried chicken. But German food is pretty crap too so...

  • Is that a Condor Pizza?

  • The kebabs in Germany rule!!

  • I saw that first thing this morning, made me laugh and feel sick at the same time.

that's horrible, coke and cheap pizza.. YUK

  • haha, yeah I saw that this morning. Surprised it wasn't checked before being uploaded.

Yeah, I can't even think of the last time my family didn't have a meal together on sunday.

    ffub

Yeah. The food when I went to Germany wasn't great. Endless schnitzel and wurst cooked in endless ways. Loads of beer too, which isn't necessarily a bad thing!

  • and in germany, the culture very much leans toward eating when you are drinking all that beer, not the "eatin's cheetin" attitude of the UK's bingers

I love the beer and food in germany, I'd be very fat if I lived there. would miss curry too much tho

  • Yeah, definitely. I was 16 when I went to Germany as a language student with my college and I didn't see any people of the same age binging like in the uk.

The beer was lovely, we went to one bar that had hundreds of beers on tap in Berlin... can't remember the name. I'd love to go back.

  • yeah, Berlin's wicked

I think there is a bit of a misconception about European food - France, Belgium, Netherlands, Germany (as mentioned), Italy all have loads of take aways of all different kinds. The UK's food may have moved further from it's traditional roots but it's not true to say that there is no culture of food or history of agriculture in this country. Travel more than 30 miles from London and you'll find a lot of agriculture.

  • You don't mean.. no, not possible.. OUTSIDE.. London?!?!?!
Is the atmosphere safe for humans outside the M25?
Has anyone made the journey and returned to tell the tale???

    ;-)
