  • Stolen Specialized Langster, Silver, 2009.

A much loved bike with much more emotional value than financial value.

Stolen in London today between 3 and 4 PM from Blackfriars Road near Southwark tube station.

Stock with no changes to it.

Looks exactly like the attached photo.

Many thanks in advance for looking out for it and any help you can provide.

  • Sorry to hear! Had my Mercian (just) re-built Pearson swiped just before Christmas. Happy Christmas to me! As you its the sentimental value that trumps the financial value. Mine had been all over Europe with me over the past 8 years! Do keep an eye out for it on (Gumtree, eBay and PreLoved cycle related ads all pulled into the one web site). Do be careful with photos and titles on there. Those selling stolen bikes will either post a pic of the actual bike they are selling on (sometimes obscured/out of focus), but the wording may not be correct or vice-versa to throw you from finding it. If its sold complete on one of the websites they can appear just hours after, or a few days/a week when the theft isn't as 'hot'. Good to check a few times every 24hrs and you'll be surprised of the number of ads if you look at all for sale.
Hopefully you have also registered your bike with findthatbike and then marked it as stolen. The Met use the web site to trace the owners of recovered bikes. Hopefully you know or have the frame number to add to the site. That way that is your proof that the bike is yours. Had an old hybrid stolen previously and I never registered it at the time and the sneaky thief took the frame no. and registered it as his own on the site to then sell on. Not complete proof of ownership, but if you've had it eons and no longer have a bill of sale etc then difficult to prove {possibly}.
One last thing, email a description and photo to the Cycle Task Force They will distribute it between their officers to keep an eye. Any known scratches/seat post marking that you made to keep the seat height correct for yourself etc put in the email, especially for a stock machine. Oh, also Broadway and Brick Lane markets are worth a visit at the weekend as I've heard that stolen bikes are sold there. I hope you are reunited soon!

  • Thanks so much for all your really valuable advice! As you say, it's totally the emotional attachment. I have been all over with the bike, including, the Dunwich Dynamo.

As awful as it is to have your beloved bike stolen, it's heartening to know that the cycling community cares.

There is now also a Twitter account @stolen_langster if anyone reading this could please take the time to retweet a tweet from there that would be hugely appreciated.

I'll keep everyone informed on progress. Hopefully the Internet and the cycling community can work its magic.

    I'll keep everyone informed

  • From the description of where you said it's very possible some good cctv can be found. I'd say contact tfl's Palestra office which might be difficult but they will have a ton of cctv if you get the right people.

  • Hi all, my Dolan pre cursa was stolen from the SW8 area. It's relatively distinctive - Dolan Pre Cursa frame set, H Plus Son rear wheel thats been incorrectly built (spoke alignment at the valve is out), Michie cranks, continental tyres, BLB brake lever. Other parts are mostly ratty old bits.

Please get in touch if seen/found. Thanks all.

  • Hi there, much beloved vintage Mercian stolen from my house in Hackney, this week. It's very distinctive - light grey, yellow transfers, yellow handlebar tape, black pannier wrack. It was resprayed last year so in very good nick. It also had little yellow saddle bag on when stolen.
I've owned this bike for 35 years so am heart broken it's gone.
If anyone sees my bike please let me know on 07958 388021.

  • @JaneReyno Hi Jane - was this the usual Hackney smashed front door/hallway job?

If so, mine ended up being sold outside The Cycle Pitstop (bike shop on Well Street) the following Sunday.

Just for the record, the bike shop was closed at the time, absolutely nothing to do with them. Just some bloke on the street offering it up to interested parties.

  • Black Brooks B17 Narrow on 26.4 SR Laprade stem - stolen from Hanover Square today. Kryptonite cable looped through the rails was snipped and the seat bolt loosened.

This is how I get to work, so I'm looking for a -waitforit- saddle and 26.4 seatpost asap.

  • So sorry to see all these stories of missing bikes.

My beautiful Liv invite 1 cyclocross bike has also been stolen.

If anyone sees one for sale anywhere I'd really appreciate a heads up. I absolutely cannot make it to Brick lane at the weekend, and would love it if people going to look for there bikes could keep an eye out for it.

It has a mish-mash groupset, including one distinctive shimano ultegra sti leaver, the single most expensive component on the bike. The frame number is GW4G0758. As you can see it is a sexy grey with purple flashes. it is registered with bike register and has a sticker on the top tube. the number is 0102200071

  • Hey guys, forlorn though it likely is, if anyone comes across a blue condor pista or a cream condor pista EOM, let me know. I'm from Cardiff but I thought i'd get it into your minds eye, as lfgss are the bunch most likely to do the online browsing.
My garage got torn apart and cleaned out in a sting that was along the street.
They're a pretty unique little pair, if anything like them comes up it may be related. X
