Caught one once doing it to a (an admittedly shit hybrid thing) bike once, asked the girl if she wouldn't mind not wrecking other peoples bikes and be a bit more careful, her response was along the lines of 'its just a bike, who gives a shit'.
Her bike was a £500 hybrid in decent looking nick, and the bike she had just taken the top tube out of was admittedly fairly shabby, but regardless, people, grrrr!!
