Your right, race organising is hard to get into!
I've been half heartedly trying to put on a Club time trial for the last six months. Its a maze of rules and regulations with the ever looming danger of liability and risk assessments. I can't imagine the stress of putting on a road race.
Some way of teaming up old and new organisers would seem like a good idea.
If anyone wants to put on a race and have the know how, there are people at islington cc (my club) who are willing to learn and help but don't have any experience.
