The cyclist pictured is a pro racing the tour de France,
I think the rules at that time said "mandatory DIY" .
No light-heartedness there, lots of adrenaline.
Lovely picture .
Back to the wheels,
I use linseed oil,
I've been told that it takes a few days before it sizes.
So I resist jumping on them for a few days.
I remember reading that a pro,
who used the same lubrification,
did put some super light Loctite ( lighter than blue)as prevention,
to be able to shift the wheels.
As the nipples are internal,
ambushed behind a glued tubular, the rim very stiff,
wouldn't some kind of insurance be useful on that side ?
