I've had a few thoughts on what sort of geo I'd have if I was to get a custom steel, fast/long ride (not racing) road bike. I'm used to riding with a modest saddle/bar drop (6.5cm/one ScobleBrick last time I checked) so horizontal TT and slammed stem with normal geo wouldn't work.
Best I could come up with from an aesthetic/comfort trade-off point of view was a 17 degree sloping TT matched with a zero rise stem, and the appropriate length head tube to allow either a slammed stem or perhaps one spacer, leaving a bit of room for adjustment.
And it wouldn't scream "fat" cos the only time people would see it, I'd be riding it. And I'm not fat... any more. ;-)
