  • Happy to listen to suggestions on this.

The geo of this is as close to my Serotta as I can get it- the BB has had to come up to prevent pedal strike but apart from that it's pretty much 1:1.

So I'd like to duplicate the stem height, but this will be an ahead stem setup.

Once you've removed the stack that a traditional threaded headset gives you then you have a gap to fill.

If you slam the stem (best for aesthetics) then you end up with the front end much lower than with a slammed quill stem, due to the lack of headset stack.

So- you can either increase the length of the headtube and slope the top tube, have a Scoble of spacer, or the aforementioned faux quill.

Or- my currently preferred option of a "dropped toptube" as Dario puts it.

If it were me I'd go for a combination of sloped top tube, and extended headtube.

As for belt drive. It really doesnt feel/sound any better than a chain drive in good, well oiled, condition. As my belt is on a SS 29er, and I live in the worst climate in europe. A chain drive wouldnt be in good condition 3 minutes into a ride. So the belt shines through. Not sure how relavent that might be. The lack of oil is great for bike cleaning. Not only can you throw more soap at it. But the dirt on the bike isnt as greased on as usual. It is also really light.
