Discs for road are fine, I had a disc equipped 'road' bike in 2007!
But you have all the faff that comes with disc brakes.. The weight, the proprietary pads << and the expense of them. I've been 10st dead for over 10 years - Calipers stop me fine - even in the wet.
Rim brakes are just a damn sight more elegant on a road bike!
