In the mountain bike world I normally inhabit, finishing kit is important. But it's not THAT important to use the same brand for stem, seatpost and bars...etc

I'm currently speccing up a nice(IMO) bike...with silver/chrome bits...This is a one off treat to myself for my 40th and I'd like to use some parts that I consider beautiful as well as functional...

To this end I originally wanted to include a Thomson stem(with shim), Cinelli Giro bars and a Nitto S84 post....Using bits from different manufctureres I who I consider top of their games. But would this look a) a bit mismatched b) like I was trying too hard c) ATGNI-ish? d) completely shit?

Or should a discerning chap ALWAYS match as far as poss? i.e Thomson Stem and Post? Would love to match the Nitto post with their sweet lugged stem but cannot find a UK stockist...and prices from US/Japan sites plus postage/customs charges are making it ridic...

    Any slagging/advice welcomed enthusiastically.
