The problem with drawing things with your GPS output is that it becomes an end in itself and the actual experience of the ride becomes secondary.
Speaking of which, Bicycling have written a very long and very well researched article on Strava, the death of Kim Flint and Chris Bucchere (who hit and killed a pedestrian in the Castro).
