Today I come with a perhaps odd query. But the background first.
For the past year I've built myself my baby (my bike). Got a Columbus SL steel frame from an old racing bike, had it painted candy red (FIAT reference) and then around that built it with more recent components (You can check it here on Flickr).
The "bike check(ish)" is as follows:
Frameset: Villiger Starling (Columbus SL) / Fork Look HSC-2 (full carbon) Headset: ??? (no clue but it worked fine. was to be changed when need arised) Cockpit: PRO VIBE 7S / 3T Ergonova (42c-c) / HTapeFi'zi:k Honey Seatpost: RG silver (Was waiting on a Pro Vibe carbon for this) Wheelset: Fulcrum Racing 7 Tyres: 23c Specialized Turbo [Clincher] - kevlar reinforced, slick Groupset: Shimano 105 5700 BLACK Chainset: 53/39T 170mm crank arms Bottom bracket: Shimano 105 5700 Hollowtech II Chain: Shimano 105 5701 Chain Cassette: Shimano 105 5700 10 Speed Cassette 12-25 Pedals: Shimano m-520 BLACK Saddle: Selle Italia SLR (Carbon rails)
Weight: 9.1Kg
Finished it about a month ago.
The situation. I got ran over by a car this past Friday. I am sore, hurt and bruised and burnt (from sliding on the asfalt). But I am ok(ish). The frame did not survive well the duel, nor did some of the components.
The query. The driver is assuming all costs, and will call for the insurance company to step-up with the money. I can roughly assign monetary values to almost all components of my bike, apart from the frame. I don't find that many brands that still use Columbus SL tubing (found Flandria and a few custom made frame fabricators but nothing much else). Would it be at all possible for you guys to know, roughly, me the monetary value on a Columbus SL frame (materials plus work to turn it into a frame), or more fabricators that use it so I cant get a wider idear on values. Current SL as I doubt it's easy or even cost effective to get the old tubing. I ask so I can go the best prepared possible to speak with the driver and/or insurance and it is the quickest possible way.
As an accessory question, I ask what is the Reynolds equivalent o Columbus SL.
Thanks a million in advance for any time spent on this.
