Any driver with a brain would far rather drive at 19.9mph down a smooth easy road than drive over something resembling a BMX track gone wrong at 10mph whilst getting both their body and motor proper battered. Forget trying to carry fragile cargo as well, such as er…everything!
I completely agree, I strongly dislike humps and the like. I think they're a symptom of failure and the wrong policy. However, it is undeniable that they have contributed to a reduction in casualties.
Obviously, drivers would prefer not to drive over them, but once they were there, what were manufacturers to do? Urban 4x4s were a fairly logical consequence.
