Right. Woodrup have confirmed that this has been crashed, and quoted £138 for a new (725) downtube and retracking.
It'll also need enamelling (sorry) which will be an extra £100 or so depending on what I want for it ('Rossdrup'?)
I've told the seller that I'll give her £50 for it, so asked her to refund £100, which will keep the frame in 'pretty good deal' territory for me and mean she doesn't end up sticking it in a skip, or reselling it as rideable.
The problem is, she's not responding to any of my eBay emails which means that on Friday I'm going to escalate it to eBay. Now I suspect that eBay are going to make me send it back to her at my expense, as that's what they seem to do in these situations.
Is there any way that they won't do that? i.e. have they sided with anyone else in this situation and sorted out a partial refund? I know I've got a solid case (bought the frame as rideable, got a quote from Woodrup that says it's unsafe etc) but I'd really rather keep it and not pay £30 for the pleasure of housesitting a bike for a couple of weeks.
Any advice?
Here it is. Gutted about having to repaint but it's unsafe.
