I am not in favor of law that aren't enforced, and jaywalking (bar Germany) barely seems enforced.
But then there should be some courtesy as far as I'm concerned. Some pedestrians (Suicidal Pedestrians) are so inconsiderate they are great at giving you an awful fright both on the bike/in car. You can't really enforce courtesy however in criminal law... :)
Judging by log of grandson the cyclist really was in the wrong. I am not too pleased though with GBH charges used this way...unless they are used fairly across the board and any motorist/pedestrian causing an accident by clearly inconsiderate behavior also gets it.
