Here's my new project:
MBK Super Record, bought from another forumenger a couple weeks ago.
Was in quite good condition when I bought it, except for the tyres:
Pretty sure that's the original rubber, probably 20 years old or so, and I reckoned the rear was in bad shape but would get me home. That popped up in the intervening 3.5 miles.
I also reckoned tubs weren't worth the hassle, so I found another pair of Mavic MA40s, but clinchers this time, on Campag hubs.
Other things that need to be done: It had an almost full Sachs New Success groupset, only thing missing was the brakes (it came with Weinmanns). Found a pair of Sachs NS brakes on ebay, it includes aero levers so I'll be swapping those out soon and will finally be able to spend some time out of the drops.
Also, I'll be using this for commuting so white bar tape will start looking like shit in roughly 6.3 seconds, and the brakes I bought have black hoods (the Weinmanns had none). Also my arse doesn't agree with that saddle. So both the cockpit and saddle will have to be black for the time being. Shame since they do look so nice in white :/
It's pretty likely I'll have to resell this in a year when my visa expires, so when that rolls around I'll take my sensible black commuting gear off, put the white saddle back on, redo it up with some nice white bar tape, probably put the tubulars back on (since they have the New Success hubs in, keep the gruppo together you know). Should be properly nice.
