It'll be for 99% business use anyway so cost is less of an issue.
What drives would you put in it?
I put the 2TB Western Digital Green ones in mine, low standby power consumption, and the largest capacities are likely to fail sooner so it's a trade-off between space and longevity... 2TB disks are pretty well established now.
In standby it really does suck very little power (according to my UPS stats), mine can take a while to spin up from standby due to encryption and RAID 6, so even a small file involves waking up most or all of the disks... but, once running the performance is great. We watch Blu-Ray rips off it just fine, no lag or performance issues.
