I've been wondering about a NAS as well. Am far too complacent regarding backups, have an external drive with stuff on, but I don't update it anywhere near regularly enough.
I'd want one that will run logitech's media server for the squeezebox which doesn't seem to be a problem, but also being able to stream direct to a smart TV (which I don't currently have) would seem like a good idea. Android access and control also essential.
Having no experience with this stuff the options are a bit bewildering. I've read good stuff about Synology products, but it's hard to be sure if they'll do all of the above.
