I was informed this weekend that the most effective time to take anti-histamines is first thing in the morning, as soon as you wake, irrespective of symptoms.
The rationale is that prevention is better than cure - avoiding the build up of histamines & associated inflammation is easy, but getting rid of inflammation once it has taken hold is not.
