A very interesting project Wardy - it'll be good to see how it turns out - you could maybe let us know what the final cost of the project is and what sort of weight the frame is when finished. Just another thought after reading how to do it, it must have been possible to do a fiberglass repair to the damaged seatpost and rebuild it as well.
