It's for an ambient sound sample to include in a recording of a song that was originally about Charles Lindbergh. On reading up more about him though(read the biography and a few other books) I discovered his dubious political beliefs in later life... So I decided to make it about a fictional but historically analogous character. Just someone who flew alone a long way across the ocean for the first time while the world and his wife waited anxiously, staring onto the sunset waiting to see if he'd arrive. Wanted a accurate and evocative sound on a small single aero engine from that time. Occurs to me now that what I want is a radial engine. I think.
