The problem with deep alloy rims is the weight. That is why carbon came in really - aero and keep weight down. And the rim being rotating weight it is very important (more than frame weight). And carbon clinchers are more or less as heavy as alloy as they need strength more than tubs - but invented for freddy sportif types.
