Stock control at Halfords branches is notoriously inaccurate.
The 16/17 year old son of friends of ours did his work placement at a local Halfords.
Within an hour of starting he was left alone to enter the stock received, (which varied from the stock automatically expected, and the stock requested as 'special orders'), onto the computer system.
The onus was on completing the task, rather than accuracy, to get back to serving walk-in customers.
I would suggest you email the head office of Halfords to make certain they have no stock 'floating in the ether'.
