Bright, earlyish start yesterday for a 40 mile lumpy circuit in the Surrey Hills, centered around Woldingham. A derivative of BMMF's "Learning Curve" route.
Just myself and a Penge rider up the long drag of Layham's Road, then carnage at Skid Hill Lane, a group of about 40 newbie cyclists being shown the ropes. An awesome thing to see and the cars were nicely patient. Lost them all by Washpond Lane and had relatively quiet time until getting to the the Ridge, where again there were loads of newbies. I counted about 30 riders, of all abilties, coming down Chalkpit Lane as I wheezed up it. Normal count is about 3.

I hope they keep it up.
