It was closed roads, but just after the timing gate at the end there was a small side road. The driver came out of there and was trying to do a three-point-turn to go back down the lane as the road was closed. She didn't bother looking up the straight road to see the rider sprinting to the finish and completely blocked the finish line. Fucking moron.
There was a steward motorbike there for a while but he rode off a little while before the accident. It looked as if the guy will be paralysed from the neck down. Hopefully that is not the case and the operation was successful and he will make a full recovery.
It was a fucking horrible thing to see, makes me pretty upset thinking about how her just being a fucking idiot behind the wheel might have left him with life changing injuries.
Other than that the whole day was brilliant, a really well stewarded event on a perfect day for cycling. Such a shame.
